Why does the Queso Fresco from Los Altos have a shorter shelf life than other
similar cheese?

Our Queso Fresco is made of whole fresh milk with no preservatives added.
The shelf life is dictated by the limited time the cheese has in order to preserve
its freshness and typical characteristics of a fresh cheese.

Is there any low fat cheese that Los Altos offers?
At this time, no. A low fat cheese must contain less than 3 grams of fat per portion.
Each portion is approximately 28 grams of cheese.

What are the ingredients and what makes them different from other cheeses?
Our cheeses contain similar ingredients, whole milk being the most important. What
sets them apart is the elaborate process by experienced cheesemakers using old family recipes from México and the amount of other ingredients used. The list of ingredients for each type of cheese can be found on all of our labels.

What’s the difference between retail and bulk cheese?
Retail cheese is easier to store, transport and preserve. It contains the nutritional information and expiration date on each unit. Bulk cheese is the exact same delicious cheese as the retail one. It is produced and shipped in larger amounts, in terms of pounds, and each individual supermarket is responsible for its handling, nutritional information and expiration date once the cheese reaches the store.
